Located on a remote jungle beach in Costa Rica’s wild southernmost peninsula, Blue Osa Yoga Retreat and Spa is a place to pamper your soul and engage your wild side — and it’s all done by letting men return to nature. At Blue Osa, a calm retreat and spa easily transitions into an extreme fitness adventure vacation leaving men feeling both rested and invigorated.
No need to worry about leaving your carbon footprint embedded on this trip, Bue Osa’s buildings and the grounds themselves are green in design, built on a grid-neutral site that generates at least as much electricity as visitors consume in a year. The property is designed to use the least amount of power possible, but this isn’t a barefoot granola fest. The grounds are scored with tropical foliage and stone pathways leading to an open-air yoga studio, a 70-foot, chlorine-free lap pool, and 12 guestrooms and suites all done in blues.
Days begin with a delicious farm-to-table meal— Osa gets all its fruit and vegetables from their own organic garden, coconut trees and pineapple patches on the property, or from the local fishermen and neighboring farmers who use principles of organic farming.
Afterwards, enjoy an exhilarating early morning personal training session with resident fitness instructor Rafa or a yoga session at your skill level.
The lady in your life may enjoy a tasty tour to the local chocolate orchards. This outing takes you back in time to the roots of cacao agriculture during the Mayan empire, then through the entire chocolate manufacturing process. Enjoy the cacao orchards, learn about the varieties and how cacao fits into the natural food cycle in nature.
You can also hire a boat to transport you to the Osa Wildlife Sanctuary, which is dedicated to the care of orphaned and injured wild animals for subsequent re-introduction to their original habitat. The Sanctuary is located on the northeast corner of the Golfo Dulce and cannot be reached by any means other than boat. These boat tours also offer wonderful opportunity for dolphin watching and snorkeling.
For bird and animal spotters, an escapade into the Corcovado National Park, one of Costa Rica’s most illustrious natural playgrounds, is the perfect jaunt. You’ll spot sloths and scarlet macaws—just to name a few.
Whether you scale waterfalls, hike into one of the most biodiverse rainforests on the planet, horseback into the mountains, kayak the Mangroves or deepen your yoga practice—Blue Osa offers all the activity a guy can ask for. Men’s Spas don’t get better than this.
